2020 Vision
Happy New Year my friends!
It's hard not to love our year wordplay this year, "2020". It communicates a year of clarity, sharp vision, focus.
How important is clear vision? I remember the brown, horizontal, wind-driven rain we encountered in Wyoming on our way to Alaska back it 2005. We had to come to a complete stop on a major 4 lane highway because we literally couldn't see a foot away from the car. It can be terrifying losing your vision, clarity, direction.
Many times this is a good illustration for the journey the folks who come to AHM are facing. They’ve hit storms in their lives and, as a result, they lose their vision of who they are, who God is, where they should be heading. They sit in the middle of the highway of life waiting to be hit by the semi that didn't choose to stop. (No, that did NOT happen to us, but it was on my mind while we sat there waiting for the Wyoming sirocco to blow over.)
We are so privileged to serve these folks, helping clear away the fog, checking and resetting their "God compass", helping them to their feet, and pushing them in confidence to their next waypoint in life.
At present we are serving a pastor, a ministry leader, and a premarital couple among several others. Rape, abusive fathers, neglect, alcoholic parents and adultery are common storms obscuring the vision of the dear folks to whom we minister. And, of course, disability adds another layer of complication. They need our constant prayers.
I must tell you, I absolutely see God at work in our sessions and I can palpably sense your prayers impacting these conversations. Please keep up the undergirding. I know I am not sufficient to "fix" anyone; I am completely dependent on His strength, insights, inspiration, wisdom, love, grace to be His conduit of vision for them.
Thank you for being so absolutely faithful in your prayers...
